“The Girl and the Robot” is a band whereby its’ musical style is influenced by a Japanese singer called Shiina Ringo. “Ringo” means apple in Japanese, so when the brewers were coming up with the recipe to brew this beer, they decided to use apples. Apple is a delightful fruit, and is often integrated in many fruit juices because no matter what fruit it is complemented with, it will not cover each other’s characteristics. This beer gives off a sweet and sour taste, which is consistent with the band’s music.
Most people associate the word ‘Lager’ with beers mass-produced by large industrial breweries. These beers are light, crisp and refreshing, but not terribly flavorful. A Lager can be more than that, though. Numazu Lager is crisp and refreshing, but also rich in flavor and complexity.

Unfathomably sensuous, the mahogany coloured, almost black, “Aventinus Eisbock” matured in a special freezing process following a special recipe, with a soft, elegant body, but still intensive. Tempting as digestif, to crepes, dark chocolate, Tiramisu and fully ripe parmesan cheese, it is best served in a balloon glass.
With its light-honey colouring and streaked with fine top-fermented yeast, this beer has a fine-pored, stable head. “Meine helle Weisse” – Tap 1 of the Schneider Weisse brewery – is a bright wheat beer with the original Schneider Weisse aroma, full-bodied and intensive. Wheat beer bursting with energy! You can tell its strength by its colour alone: “Schneider Weisse non-alcoholic” – the slightly darker, isotonic thirst-quencher energises with 100% wheat beer taste at less than 0.5% alcohol. That’s how a “free” wheat beer should taste like: strong – just like Bavaria!

Perfectly matches rustic dishes, dark roasts and sweet desserts.
It’s the art of brewing in its purest form for true wheat beer connoisseurs: “Mein Original” – the traditional wheat beer brewed unaltered in accordance with the original recipe of Georg I. Schneider since 1872 – and since then simply marquee. Of a deep amber colour, harmonically balanced and strong. That’s what Bavaria tastes like.

Fragrant, but not overly sweet. Our Lychee Ale is cloudy gold with a white creamy crown, and is refreshingly easy to drink. Reminiscent of the fruit markets of Bali encapsulated in a bottle. Strong hints of Lychee, with the crispness of a perfectly brewed ale at the finish results in a balanced fruity ale that pairs perfectly with cuisine possessing strong flavours, and plenty of spices.
Sweet, with slight hint of tartness, Stark’s Mango Ale is a true tropical ale meant to be enjoyed with the food of the tropics. The Ale is a deep golden hue that is slightly cloudy, topped with a white creamy crown. Many children of the 80s will take a fond look at the 8 BIT name of this beer and smile appreciatively at the countless hours lost in the pixellated void of Atari, Nintendo and their ilk. Somewhat like the stripped back, fun first nature of those early games consoles, this West Coast IPA isn’t beer that’s necessarily built for deep thinking, just good drinking. And that it offers in spades with huge hop aromas of lemon and pine sitting atop a big and refreshing bitterness and a lean malt base. With hop additions in the kettle, whirlpool, hop back and dry hopping, 8BIT is bound to surprise more than a few hop heads with just how much fun it actually is.
This is an assertive American styled pale ale that serves up plenty in the hop department with four varieties – Cascade, Columbus, Simcoe and Fuggles. Bursting with herbal, floral and slightly spicy aromas, this bold and lengthy, albeit pleasant bitterness from the beer also flows off some dank and earthy characters.
The duel for which this beer takes its name is an Old World versus New World clash whereby they’ve essentially taken a classic European lager and thrown loads more hops of a modern variety at it. The name is also slightly misleading for it suggests these two worlds are battling when in fact they’re doing a pretty good job of working in harmony. The pilsner and Vienna malts give the beer a nice bready character while the dry hopping with Summer and Ella hop varieties lift the aroma and work alongside a gentle bitterness. To get that extra oomph from your hoppy duel, it pays to gets this beer as fresh as possible.
They’ve called it Le Brat and they’ve called it an Imperial Blonde Ale which, at seven percent ABV, is certainly far more than your average Aussie blonde, though comfortably within the sweet spot for Belgian interpretations. While crystal clear, inarguably clean and refreshingly crisp, it’s got character well beyond what you might normally expect of a beer with those descriptors applied. That’s mainly thanks to the work of the yeast, which has banana aromas soaring from the glass, along with a hint of clove spiciness. The crown wearing figure on the bottle may proffer an image of a beer that’s been suited up somewhere between Tarocash and Euro-trash, but Le Brat is a surprisingly sophisticated wee number.”
A double IPA with a zesty, fruit flavour, Mysterio is packed with all kinds of hops the mystery is: which ones?
At 15 percent ABV, Old Money is one of the most potent beers to have been released domestically in recent times; the original RIS recipe came in at an already hearty 12 percent ABV and time has further concentrated things in the excise collector’s favour. It duly delivers everything you might reasonably expect a beer of such stature ought to, beginning when the boozy, whisky notes tickle your nostrils before you’ve even had a sip. On the palate it is incredibly rich, as if someone has soaked a load of dried fruit in whisky, used that to bake a moist and decadent Christmas cake, pureed and filtered it, then bottled the concentrate. It is replete with raisin and currant sweetness to the verge of fortification while oak, alcohol and slightly medicinal phenolic characters build layer upon layer as you sip away.
Using the addition of lemongrass and kaffir lime as a hook, Puppet Master is a suitably citrusy drop, from the lemony aroma through to the palate where its grapefruit character mixes with a herbal spiciness. At just 5.5 percent ABV it’s a little on the light side in terms of IPAs, but you get the impression this is far more about function than it is about pleasing the people putting together style guidelines. On that, it’s the kind of thing that’ll tickle the tastes of those favouring the complementary rather than the contrasting when it comes to beer and food matching; sip one alongside a fresh and zesty Phla kung and your palate will be halfway towards a beach in Phuket.”
Rare Ink is a straight up and down session stout. There’s no point in trying to talk up a massive roast character, bracing bitterness or layer upon layer of rich dark fruit because they’re simply not there at competitive levels. That’s not to say this is a beer devoid of flavour by any means, but it is purposefully light on the palate from start to finish. And at just 4.4 percent ABV, it’s not going to run you into big trouble if you helped yourself to more than a few. It’s just a regular ol’ stout that you can drink with breakfast, lunch or dinner without having to contemplate the meaning of things, so if that’s what you’re looking for, Rare Ink is your beer.
“The increasingly diverse range of beers keeps rolling off the line at Stockade Brew Co, with rolling being the operative word here as their latest release has been named Roly. It’s a smoked jalapeño porter and the label, with its graffitied train (they went so far as to get a real train painted this way) and quasi drug imagery, suggests a beer packing a measure of grit and menace. But Roly is something of an undercover dealer and the evocative label is its front. A better representation of the beer would have those hands holding not a jalapeño spliff, but clutching a chocolate bar.
Roly is a smooth, slightly smokey and above all chocolatey porter. The jalapeño character is there but only subtly so – anyone that is scared off by the mention of chilli in beer ought not be worried as it’s barely more than a sprinkle of spice. The recipe for the beer apparently came via someone called Trev who was the winner of a Stockade home-brew competition. Judging by the way Roly rolls, Trev’s street cred ought to have risen recently.”
As is typical of the core Stockade beers, the brewers have taken an approachable style and thrown a heap more at it. In this case, it’s a golden ale that’s been loaded with hops. More specifically it’s the dry hopping which is key, creating a very aromatic beer that’s bursting with pine and citrus aromas. The body is built on some biscuity and caramel malts which give way to a tropical fruit character with a slightly dry finish and sharp, resinous bitterness. For a fairly lightweight beer – just 4.1% ABV– The Sesh punches surprisingly fast, hard and full.
Wanderer has been brewed using all German ingredients: a bock lager yeast; Munich, Vienna and Pilsner malts; Hallertau and Hallertau Mittlefrüh hops. It’s a lovely colour, somewhere in the amber to copper spectrum, and at six percent ABV is towards the top end of the range as far as typical festbiers are concerned. Being a degree more potent than your average Aussie lager in no way lowers the drinkability, its clean and slightly dry finish coming off the back of a nice touch of breadiness and light herbal notes of the German hops. Should you not have had the pleasure of being at Oktoberfest, or have never come across a Märzen, this local interpretation will give you a fair idea of what the Bavarians are enjoying.”
A light amber colour with a natural yeast cloud, and a flavour that strikes a balance between its subtle hop aroma and full malt palate, finishing soft and clean.
Inspired by the Pacific Ocean and brewed using all Australian barley, wheat and Galaxy hops, Pacific Ale is cloudy and golden with a big fruity aroma and a refreshing finish.
While our beers are many and diverse, yet unified by overarching boldness, India pale ales are our undeniable bread and butter. The result is an intensely citrusy, beautifully bitter beer is worthy of the simple-yet-lordly title of Stone Delicious IPA. Lemondrop and El Dorado hops combine to bring on a magnificent lemon candy-like flavour that’s balanced by hop spice. It’s unlike anything we’ve tasted in nearly two decades of IPA experimentation, and another lupulin-laced creation we’re excited to present to hopheads everywhere.
A fermenting beer never slumbers. Consequently, there is always scattered activity tending our precious beers throughout the dark hours. In these late nights and wee hours that hallowed responsibility falls to the shoulders of the overnight Brew Crew. These brewing soloists brave the long nights, often alone, to do what needs to be done. Most areas of the brewery are dark or in shadows. Throughout the night the cellars resonate with the occasional knocking of expanding and contracting pipes. It can be a bit spooky to hear the brewery creak and groan as if possessed by a spirit randomly knocking about with a mallet. This IPA, liberally hopped with Loral™, honors our intrepid overnight team by naming it after their mischievous poltergeist companion – the Ghost Hammer.

Enter Stone Go To IPA, our session IPA, boasting all the gloriously bitter, citrusy, piney flavour of our bigger / industrial-strength IPAs, but with a significantly lower alcohol-by-volume (4.8%) allowing IPA fans like us to enjoy more of this amazingly, hoppy beer over a longer session, without giving up any of that gloriously crave-able botanically-driven dankness. Well, OK, when you compare to our bigger IPAs you find that you give up some, as that’s what happens when you dramatically lower the abv. And while we work hard to bend the time/space/abv intensity continuum, we’ve admittedly not yet learned to break it. This comes damn close though.

Clearly, style lines have been crossed. Is it half-IPA, half-stout? Not quite. It’s definitely all IPA, but it’s also the best of both styles, making this love child of a beer simply just a beautiful, pleasure-seeking meld of imperial IPA and mocha indulgence. How did we come up with this inexplicably delicious creation? Well, that doesn’t really matter. What matters is that it exists and that it’s here for you now, thanks to our deliberate disregard for brewing norms. Some things are not meant to be known, just enjoyed…thoroughly.
When it came to creating Ripper, we drew inspiration from the coastal surf cultures of SoCal and Oz. Sourcing classic Cascade from the Pacific Northwest and Australian Galaxy hops from…yes…Australia, we made a beer both lovers of frothy peaks and hoppy green buds will be stoked about. At the same time, we stayed true to our San Diego roots by pushing the hop boundaries of this style. While some might think it lingers on an edge far closer to an IPA, with all the dry-hop flavour and aroma, it’s actually right in line with the current-day interpretation of a West Coast pale. Ours just so happens to have an Aussie accent that’s cascading with a juicy amount of grapefruit and passion fruit hoppiness. So veg out or venture out. Either way, rip one open and taste this awesome golden nectar!
We use bountiful whole tangerine purée, which brings pithy, crisp bitterness to the citrus flavour. In addition to the complexities of the tangerine — the likes of which you can only get by using the whole fruit — we judiciously employ just a hint of whole pineapple for a backnote (you’d likely not even pick it out of the mix if we didn’t tell you it was there). We’re not looking for a sweet concoction to appease the “I want my beer to taste like fruit juice” crowd. This is Stone. We like our IPAs to taste like IPAs. Big, bold and not for kids.
Pours a hazy pale yellow into a fifteen ounce glass mug the same temperature as the beer. Small white head that settles to a patchy rime that lasts. Some lacing.
The nose is mild. Just right for a good Pilz. Touch of spiciness along with some floral hops and caramel malt.
Blast of mild fruity hops begins the flavour profile. Touch of citrus. Ruby red grapefruit comes to mind. Caramel balances the hops for a mild drinkable taste with excellent balance.
Crisp, smooth and refreshing makes for a light mouthfeel. Lots of carbonation but it works well with this brew.
Served on draft.
By definition, an India pale ale is hoppier and higher in alcohol than its little brother, pale ale—and we deliver in spades. One of the most well-respected and best-selling IPAs in the country, this golden beauty explodes with tropical, citrusy, piney hop flavours and aromas, all perfectly balanced by a subtle malt character. ““Lixia” means the beginning of summer and is probably the most comfortable and lively time of the year. During this time crops are growing fast, while bugs, livestock and humans are becoming more active. Kids are also getting ready for the summer break.
“Lixia” was the first American Pale Ale we ever brewed. To celebrate this gorgeous season of the year, we use Centennial, Simcoe, and Citra hops to create a refreshing APA that is full of lychee, grapefruit, and passion fruit flavors. It is our impression of the breezy summer of Taiwan and we are very sure you will enjoy it.”
““Clear And Bright” (pronounced “Ching-Ming”) is one of the most important holidays in Chinese culture. During this period in spring, family gets together to do the“tomb sweeping” tradition to show their respects and remembrance on their deceased family members and ancestors and also to pray for the health and prosperity of the new generations.
In this very special beer, we add burned Taiwan Wormwood to create the signature smoke and malty flavors of German Rauchbier. In Chinese tradition, burned Wormwood means “reviving” and “protection” and we feel that’s the exact meaning of Ching-Ming. We wish you find peace and strength in this beer.”
““Liqiu” means the beginning of the autumn. Liqui is an English pale ale brewed with locally- grown White Tip Oolong tea (also called “Oriental Beauty.”)
Oriental Beauty is a very unique terroir-based tea variety that must be bitten by tea green leafhoppers to release its unique dried fruit and honey flavors, which blend perfectly with the rich fruity and malty flavors in English pale ale.”
“Xiaoman (means “Grain Full”) marks the beginning of the growing season of crops. While watching their crops grow, farmers send their prayers to God for a rich harvest.
In our experimental “Grain Full” beer, we use the local Taiwanese ingredient “winter melon sugar” to replace the Belgian candy sugar used in most traditional Belgian beer. The unique caramel, toffee, bubble gum, ripen fruit and floral flavors of winter melon sugar match perfectly with the mild spicy and peppery notes of Belgian Pale Ale. This beer not only quenches thirst, but also brings back many people’s childhood memory (remember the smell of the candy shop you always went with your parents or grandparents?)”
