The story behind the relationship of Rocky Ridge and Beerfarm starts simply with a postcode, two farm breweries located a stones throw away from each other in the sou-west. Both who love exploring the endless possibilities of brewing beer, drinking beer, farming and naturally share an unprecedented amount of love and respect for each other.
So, we wanted to get super weird on this one……from the ground, from our farms , cultivating our own Lacto and being different. The brief was simple: Brew a beer with rhubarb (from the ground) and chocolate (from the surrounds) and after some consideration (a few beers) we came up with a dark sour beer with chocolate and rhubarb and wrapped up in a bed of Nitro – The Choc Rock (y Ridge) Rhubarbarian was born.
Now Dark, sour, nitro beers are few and far between so it is a beer you have to take a few sips to understand…. It is for GABS (@ GABS) though right? The finished product is a rich, earthy, slightly soured dark ale with a touch of love and passion. It outlines the true trades of our craft and should give you something to think about, or talk about.

Fat earl is a hand crafted lager from Lervig Aktiebryggeri.
We have always made a Pilsner here at Lervig and nally we
wanted to show the world that Lagers should not be thought
of as industrial yellow water, but as a complex beer when well
crafted. We designed this beer to have a wide range of appeal;
it is fermented using traditional lagering methods to get it a crisp,
dry nish. We use only German and continental hops that give
oral and spicy notes, brought about with a nice crisp nish of
Meyer lemon and gooseberry.

The original India Pale Ales left for their long sea journeys to the British Raj from Greenwich docks. So we’re well placed to recreate the authentic recipe of the beer that powered the Empire. Original IPA recipes call for twice the hops compared to domestic beers. We’ve taken our IPA back to its hopped-up roots, with plenty of Kent Fuggles and Goldings.
One hundred and fifty years ago the new bitter beer style, Pale Ale, was so popular that brewers had to import Californian hops to meet demand. Meantime London Pale Ale continues that tradition by combining lots of American Cascade and Centennial hops to give it a complex citrus aroma and buckets full of local Kentish Goldings to provide the bitterness that makes the style so refreshing. Together they conspire to assail the nose with a complex, heady mix of spearmint, grass and ‘hop sack’ aromas, fruity citrus flavours and a bitter finish that makes pale ale drinking a truly rewarding experience.
We set our sights on a beer that would tantalise the most discerning taste buds. So we sourced some special hops from Washington State’s Yakima Valley. Every year we reserve five varieties for our mighty American style red: expect a restrained bitterness with spectacular fruity, citrus flavours and a ruby red colour. When you find hops this special, you name the beer after them.

Belgian Dark Abbey Beer brewed in Taiwan.
Medium-bodied Coffee Porter.
The Classic Ten is the third in line of North Taiwan Brewery’s classic Belgian series. With an alcohol level of 10%, we use the in-house North Taiwan Abbey yeast to merge the best of Belgian Golden Strong Ale and Belgian Tripel, plus using plenty of pale candi sugar to increase the alcohol content and to lower the beer body. We also used Stylian Golding hops from Slovenia to produce the fragance aroma of Belgian beers.
Lychee can be said to be one of Taiwan’s representative fruits. North Taiwan Brewing follows the traditional Belgian beer brewing methods to create a fruit beer that is uniquely Taiwan. Repeated testing found that lychee and beer produced an excellent coordination, that brings out the characteristics of a tropical island style that is Taiwan.
“The Girl and the Robot” is a band whereby its’ musical style is influenced by a Japanese singer called Shiina Ringo. “Ringo” means apple in Japanese, so when the brewers were coming up with the recipe to brew this beer, they decided to use apples. Apple is a delightful fruit, and is often integrated in many fruit juices because no matter what fruit it is complemented with, it will not cover each other’s characteristics. This beer gives off a sweet and sour taste, which is consistent with the band’s music.

Crafted with a combination of 6-row malted barley, select cereal grains and a tailored selection of Pacific hops, Pabst Blue Ribbon is fermented with a pure culture of yeast, aged at high gravity and cellared to result in this clean, crisp and full-bodied beer. In simpler terms, it’s a seriously fine beer.
XPA means Extra Pale, a product of Quickchange’s lighter malt base. That delicate colour though is undercut by a glorious hit of alpha oils from Mosaic, Galaxy and Citra hops. Sometimes you don’t want your mouth flayed raw and your liver worked to a standstill. Sometimes a few luscious notes of mango, guava, lychee and pineapple can be just the thing.
Hops are where it starts for the born-again craft head and Supercharger APA is where Panhead delivers. This is an all-American show with Centennial, Citra and Simcoe overwhelming your nose, kicking you in the taste buds and departing with more bitterness than a Palm Springs divorce. We then add these nibs to our Imperial Stout with a touch of Saigon cinnamon and a hint of fresh vanilla beans from Mui Ne. The result: chocolate transcendence! – on draft

Pilsner Urquell means ‘Pilsner from the Original Source’. It is still brewed at the Citizen’s Brewery, Plzenˇ to this day, where we continue to make our beer the way we did back in 1842. Of course we’ve had to add some new equipment at the brewery to keep up with demand, but the ingredients and methods remain the same as they ever did. And so does the famous taste.
With the same soft Plzenˇ water. The same Saaz Hops from Zatec. The same Czech barley from Moravia. the same strain of yeast. We still germinate and malt the barley ourselves, and we still triple decoct our malt over open flames.
Pirate Life’s IIPA comes on like a freight train, bursting with citrus aromas and belting you in the back palate with hop bitterness. Fortunately all that action is balanced by a strong hop base and what they call “fun juice”; that is, alcohol. It is a lot, but it adds an important rounding quality to the beer.
Served in draft.
The plan was pretty straight forward: use a simple malt bill and let the Mosaic do the talking. The resulting beer is as the name implies; a kaleidoscopic journey through tropical flavours. Somehow, Mosaic finds a way to impart every delicious flavour you ask of hops, all on its own. Backed by a clean, light malt bill it’s the beer equivalent of a fruit punch juice box.
Served in draft.
Dominated by a pine forest floor character you expect from old school West Coast hops alongside the citrus elements, joined by prominent sharp caramel malts to create a creamy lushness on the palate. There’s something herbal there too and a hearty bitterness to wrap things up.
Very bright in the glass, with a luminous golden colour and distinctive Pilsner and Carapils malt aromas, it possesses an assertive and lasting bitterness and the sort of dry finish that lends such beers their moreish appeal.
